Garry's Mod custom map (Source Engine)

A small map I created for a game called Garry's Mod.

This is the first map I created using hammer++ (source engine community build of hammer, the software used to create maps for the source engine). I figured I would start with something simple to begin with. A liminal space-esque map inspired by a internet photo of an apartment complex showing indoor balconies.

While I am still learning and starting with hammer/source development, I've learnt about many quirks to do with hammer and the source engine. Such as engine specific quirks and optimizations like fixing BSP leaks, limiting what is rendered by using "area portals" linked to doors, converting any nonessential brushes into "func_detail", applying "no draw" to faces that shouldn't be visible to players, clipping stairs and where else necessary etc. And other source engine features such as the 3D skybox to project objects to act as the skybox.
