Garry's Mod custom map (Source Engine)

A small map I created for a game called Garry's Mod.

Replaying Half life 2 and it's episodes, fighting the antlion enemies reminded me of the bugs from Starship Troopers. Which inspired me to make a map based off the Whiskey Outpost, from that iconic scene in the hilarious military sci fi satire film, Starship Troopers. While the scene takes place in day time, I also made a night version as an afterthought.

With this I also learnt more Hammer quirks to do with the input and output system for functionality like setting up the spawners, buttons, map logic etc. As well as using air nodes for flying AI and tracks such as to guide the dropship NPC as to where to move. And setting up mounted guns, both player and NPC usable.

With the AI nodes, the map is fully navigable by NPCs. I did notice and find it interesting how once the outpost started getting overran, the human NPCs would retreat into the buildings. The antlion NPCs would then swarm those buildings to finish the remaining survivors.
